Solidarity Alliance
@solidarityalliance.bsky.social
A meeting place for progressive organizing - where activists, workers, and movement builders work together to strategize, change policy, win elections, provide mutual aid, and learn from each other.

We organize. We fight. We win.

Try this. Once you've had authentic lemon curd, nothing else suffices. This one is thick and creamy so it won't weep.

🫕 How to Set Up a Community Fridge.
Not all zines are in book form. This is a single-sheet that can be printed and folded.
Found this on zinebakery.com administered by @literaturegeek.bsky.social. One of the best zine resources out there.

Excellent thread by Jonathan. @elmcitytree.bsky.social
There are ways to be prepared. Experienced organizers and protesters have already figured it out. Follow them.
Everyone will have a role. Figure out what yours is now. And get really good at it.

In 1945, workers at Ford in Windsor, Ontario, staged a 99-day plant occupation demanding union recognition & fair wages. The entire city backed them—families, businesses, & other workers. After 3 mo, Ford recognized the union & agreed to wage hikes, setting a precedent for Canadian labor rights. 🧵

In 1989, thousands of locals joined striking coal miners in VA, WV, & KY in acts of civil disobedience, work stoppages, protests, road blockages, sit-ins, and rallies against Pittston Coal after they cut healthcare benefits for retired & disabled miners. After 11 months, Pittston settled. 🧵

1968: After two Memphis sanitation workers were crushed to death in a garbage truck, 1300 Black workers walked off the job, demanding wage increases & safer working conditions. After 64 days, the assassination of MLK, and numerous (mostly peaceful) marches, all demands were met. #IAmAMan 🧵

2018: Rejecting the state's proposed 2% pay raise, and angry about the declining healthcare coverage for state employees, WV teachers - & their communities - engaged in a 9 day wildcat strike. Every public school in all 55 counties shut down. They won - a 5% raise for ALL state workers. #55Strong 🧵
