This looks fun! Gotta try it.

Also, always fascinated how gaming as a community seems to settled on survivor-like to discribe these sorts of games instead of reverse bullet hell. Less syllables I guess?

Final thoughts.

It was great. Genuinely great experience. A little daunting but I would do it again, just not soon. The kit has a few weird things about it but nothing that I'd say was a deal breaker. Will look for another MG like in the future.

So many wings.

pose it, I'd really recommend the platform unit. It's honestly pretty neat, holds the model up and can be locked in place or extended.

I do find the design choice with the bits being something like ink quills fascinating. Would love to know the thought process there.

This has gotten long so ->

with my novice skill set. As with turtles and rabbits and races, slow and steady.

I may be biased but I looks cool as hell. I'm a sucker for mechs that look like they have really wings and the Oberon definitely fits that. So much wing.

I did say that it stands well, but if you really want to ->

some point.

I once read somewhere that building isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. Boy howdy was that ever true here. I'm not the best builder and I did do a lot of extra work on this one, but if my math is right I spent close to 65 total hours over the course of several weekends put this together ->

I get that it's Master Grade, but god damn. Are all of them like that?

Anyway, as shown in the pictures it stands pretty well. It does take a bit to get into position, what with how much is going on with it. That's not a bad thing in my opinion though. Gonna try some different poses with it at ->

on the whole.

"Enough about feelings, what about the kit?"

Yes, yes, fine.

One, it's really well made. Most pieces fit very well without having to clean up excess plastic on the piece. The plastic felt solid, no thin parts that seemed too flimsy to give a good press to fit. So many runners. ->

layers of bubble packing. I was genuinely worried I wouldn't be able to put it together. Or at least together well.

After I started though? I really loved it. It became something I looked forward to working on when I hit the weekend. Feels like it changed my perspective on kits and making them->

So...

It's kinda hard to put this whole thing into words. This is the first kit of this scale that I've tried to put together. Not sure if this was the best one to start with, but I'm very well know for making poor snap decisions.

It was a lot to take in when I first got it, wrapped in three ->

And now we are officially done!

A completely assembled Master Grade Oberon!

A journey.

So let's talk about.
January 18, 2025 at 10:25 PM
New weekend means a finished Platform unit for the Oberon!

Six quill pen bits included.

Definitely was more then I had imagined but the results are great.

But not quite done yet...
January 18, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Back and finished with the weapons!

Kinda.

The shield looks like an owl. The long gun has bayonets. There is no extra handle for the long sword blade.

Fun stuff none the less.

Final push. The stand and the bits.
January 12, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Model complete! Wings, backpack and all!

It's heavy.

It's also cool as hell.

With this the largest part of this project is done. I still have the stand, weapons, and bits to do but that shouldn't be that big of a task.

For tonight though? A job well done if I do say so myself.

Last pair of back wings done!

Way less parts to these so it went a lot quicker.

They have little retractable feet to help the model stand. Unsurprising really.

Not quite done though.

Time to put it all together.
January 12, 2025 at 12:54 AM
So tomorrow turned out to be a whole week later. But that's just semantics.

Left wing done!

Still more wing to do!

Let's see if we can get the last back wings done.
January 11, 2025 at 11:00 PM
I have a 5 year old toaster if that helps.
January 10, 2025 at 6:00 PM
It this the Final Shape? Cuz this looks like the Final Shape.
January 5, 2025 at 4:53 PM
One, this reply is funny as hell.

Two, I KNOW RIGHT?!
January 5, 2025 at 2:13 AM
Continuing on!

The backpack and right wing done!

There is so much wing. So much.

I like the way the backpack looks and once all the wings are done this kit is gonna be amazing looking I bet.

But that's for tomorrow.
January 4, 2025 at 11:02 PM
And here's the Oberon, sans wings, assembled!

The size difference is significant.

I still got a ways to go, what with the wings, weapons, stand, and bits. But that can wait till the weekend. Right now I'm going to bask in the feel of a build well done.

For me anyway.
January 2, 2025 at 3:05 AM
After 12 hours and to stab wounds the legs are done!

They were a lot, not gonna lie. I still really enjoyed putting them together but damn does my shoulder hurt.

Not quite done with tonight though...
