Hi mother of Alma. Thank you for your note. I sent money recently and unfortunately, because of my low economic standing in my country, I have nothing to send at this time. I will repost yours. I pray for your victory over the oppressor and I pray for steadfast faith in God Most High. 🙏🏼💚

Anyways, now every time I hear a verse from Bandana Santana, I’ll remember his sound bite where he argued against learning how to read. Smh. Heaven help us all.

And the entire media landscape is shrouded in weirdery and fuckery. Not that it’s a new phenomena. The availability of fuckery these days is alarming.

Where in the media landscape are people to look for intelligence, for the truth, for integrity, for empathy?

This also confirms my idea that listeners / the general public have too much access to musicians. Even some of my favorite artists I don’t care to hear from them in a podcast setting. If the subject didn’t make its way into the music, I don’t necessarily need to know their POV. Too much access.

I published my first 3 books in a furious 3 years. So it’s also nice to write towards something else entirely. And f*ck that digital nonsense when it comes to writing. Do you know how much energy I receive from the poetry gods when I go to the store with my 2.40$ for 2 journals??? PEN TO PAPER BABY!

A little ahead of the game but I’m sincerely juiced at the prospect of a shelf for journals spanning a decade or whatever. It’s just sexy to me to have a collection of them in one place to be able to say “those are mine”.

Yeah, it’s amazing truly. I sent for my local library to order it a few years ago. Maybe yours will too? It’s many things but truly a testament to the breadth of possibility. ✌🏼

You might look into ‘The Combustion Cycle’ by Will Alexander. He is a Black Angelino poet who wrote this 300 page collection from the perspective of 3 different humming bird species.
