Entomologist and evolutionary biologist. PhD student diving into the wild world of wasp-mimic moths! Proud Colombian!
Did you know longhorn beetles can mimic wasps? What a surprise when I found this beauty in one of my Malaise traps! This little guy has very thin, short elytra and an amazing wasp-like appearance. This is Odontocera, probably Odontocera zeteki, from Gamboa, Panama.

To kick off my account, let’s take a look at this amazing find! During our recent trip to Cerro Hoya in Panama with The Mothbox Crew, we discovered a huge larvae that was believed (or thought) to be the larvae of the Watch Witch moth...
Do you remember we found this humongous mystery caterpillar on our expedition in Cerro Hoya? Apparently, scientists don't totally know the larva or host plant of the White Witch, but Sol and Forrest just got it to pupate and proved it!! This is the WIDEST Moth on earth!!!
