It's always a lot of fun to be in the field with motivated students, especially when they come from different disciplines, such as geography, plant biotechnology and molecular microbiology 🥾🤠🪏

Today, we visited @brukercorporation.bsky.social in Belgium to take a look at what will be our new toy in a few months 😊. Can't wait until finally have it in our lab.

It's amazing how small plant root-induced differences in hydraulic conductivity can cause these cool redox dynamics that result in these beautiful patterns 🤩 #soilsarebeautiful

Today, we went to the CT lab with our guest, Dr. John Clunes from 🇨🇱, to 🔎 the structure of different Chilean volcanic soils. 🤓

It was really great to welcome @inesmulder.bsky.social of @ruhr-uni-bochum.de yesterday here at her alma mater and learn more about her exciting research on the effects of disinfectants in soils.

We're having a blast with our guest Nicole Pietrasiak from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas looking at thin sections and CT scans and measuring water repellency of #biocrusts. Can't wait for her seminar talk tomorrow 😊
