I joined College Democrats as National comms director a yr ago when we had a couple hundred dollars, mostly inactive members, and our social media was dead. In a year, we’ve increased our membership by 50%, made 35M direct voter contacts, quadrupled our social media outreach, and raised 10K+.

Gen Z can sense BS from a mile away. If Democrats want to win over these voters, authenticity must be at the center of our messaging. This is exactly why I’m running for VP of College Democrats of America—to represent college students to the DNC, not the DNC to college students.

When I say Democrats have a vision problem, this is what I mean. Americans are tired of being told what is + isn't possible. We don't need to accept the high insurance company denial percentage as a matter of course. That starts w/rejecting their PAC/lobbying money and fighting for #MedicareForAll

What concerns me is that not only did youth turnout (ages 18-29) drop ⬇️, but Harris only captured 42% of the youth vote, down by over ten points from 2020. Young voters are the largest growing voting bloc. The DNC MUST invest in year-round youth organizing.

Broadly speaking of messaging issues for Democrats is just the start. We need to work on amending our message too, especially with younger voters. It doesn’t matter how many doors you knock if you have a broken script.

At the DNC Chair Canddiate Forum yesterday, I saw more talk about youth organizing from party leaders than ever before. The future looks bright with Young Dems paving the path forward! 👏👏

There are 41 Million members of Gen-Z eligible to vote and this number will only keep growing. It would be a mistake to ignore these voters while pursuing reforms in the Democratic Party.

I believe the saying “the customer is always right” applies to elections too. Americans didn’t buy the product the Democratic Party was trying to sell because not only was the product defective, it wasn’t packaged well. Using the same prototype is not the answer.
