Congrats! I felt the same way about pre-writing the acknowledgements, and I think all of my students over the years have too, so you're not alone.

Had 4 prez, 3 searches, at my large R1 and we never considered anyone internal (excl brief interim). Each one started with a new strategic plan with little tie to our mission or strengths, and each has brought non-local SVPs to ignore faculty. Result: Avg prez tenure is < avg time to graduation.
