the custom race editor is actually so close to being great. but it is hamstrung by the lower rewards and also the ai being its usual self. also rolling starts always being single file...

you have a lot of tools, but the ai is really what kills it- can only really have fun in short races.

They really need a proper custom race mode at this point. In Forza Motorsport 5 onwards, you could grind with a really long race in freeplay mode with a garage car and the racing was fun compared to the horribly short career mode races.

the "chili pepper" races don't make use of sophy ai and while they have rubber banding (as opposed to gt7's normal ai manipulation) they're a LOT more fun to go up against. like genuinely good singleplayer racing. and there's only a few of them in game.

sophy ai has honestly been really unimpressive. i've been trying to do open wheel racing at some tracks and they just... don't have great pace. they slow down ridiculously into eau rouge so you can rear end them.
and then you pull out to a few seconds gap and it goes static.

as it is there are only a few races in singleplayer which have fun enough AI to go against and those will only be replayable for so long until they start to get stale too. Also, they're not the best paying out too.

i just cannot be bothered to grind up for the most expensive cars in the game honestly. i'm just waiting for spec 3 cause of the new F3500-B and the two new tracks.

if i had ps plus i'd probably play the game a lot more for sport mode because GT 7 is driving wise perfect for me.

Hope future updates improve single player mode.

entirely fair call. as someone who does have gt7 it can at times be really fun with the driving and there are many flashes of brilliance but as we all know, in between those flashes of brilliance it can be just soul sucking to play.

10. Auto Modelista by Tetsuya Shibata and Isao Abe

Capcom's cel-shaded racing game included a fun and pulse-pounding techno and electronica soundtrack by two of Capcom's best in-house composers. It's nice and varied, too!

8. F355 Challenge: Passione Rossa by Tomoya Koga

Yu Suzuki's Ferrari-driving F355 arcade game is like a more realistic take on Out Run, and it has a incredibly exciting soundtrack composed by one of Sega AM2's talented session guitarists.

Game is largely forgotten by normies, but still well beloved in the racing game and car community.

6. Sega GT 2002 by Masanori Takeuchi

Though the game itself is largely forgotten, Sega GT 2002's standard and online versions both had great soundtracks with jazz, hard rock, electronica and standout tracks like the awesome "Rave Racer."
