Just finished Frankenstein and this might be my favorite Guillermo Del Toro film since Pan’s Labyrinth (which is quite the feat). Gorgeously shot, lavish set pieces, emotional and empathetic. What a treat!

Arrived this morning: “Master of Evil” by @adamchristopher.me. As a huge fan of Shadows of the Sith, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this book since it was announced back in Spring. Jumping in now.

Just started reading The Last Order from @kwamembalia.bsky.social and that dedication page got me fired up already! Got a feeling this is exactly what I need right now.

Happy birthday to the incomparable Carrie Fisher. May she forever rest in the Force.

Leader, rebel, and General to many. But to me, she’s royalty.

I am wildly overdue to give this one a read, but I finally started “Bloodline” by Claudia Gray and I am flying through it! So so so good!

Spooky movie season continues!
Now watching “A Nightmare on Elm Street”

Still love it after all these years.

So happy for this kid! Was impressed when I got to meet him his rookie year. The Ducks have far flashier young talent, but he is one of the most underrated defensemen in the league and just keeps proving his worth. Now, this new contract will make him the highest paid player in Anaheim history.

Spooky movie season continues!
Now watching: “House of Wax” (2005)

Just some good old fashioned mid-00’s fare for an easy going morning. A bit by the numbers, and plenty to eye roll at, but enjoyable enough to have on in the background during October nonetheless.

Spooky movie season continues!
Now watching: “Candyman” (1992)

It’s been maybe 20 years since I’ve seen it. Just now noticing that, outside of “saying his name makes him appear,” I’ve forgotten literally everything else. Fun to revisit early 90’s, pre-Scream horror. And… of course, Virginia Madsen!

Spooky movie season continues!
Last night’s watch: “Longlegs”

First time seeing it. That was incredibly tense and creepy for the entirety of the movie! Made it real hard to go to bed right after. Osgood Perkins is making some top tier horror these days.

Spooky movie season continues!
Now watching: “The Endless”

Saw this when it first came out and I’m still amazed at the tone, style, and atmosphere they created with such a small indie budget. Def worth checking out if you haven’t seen it!

Happiest of birthdays to the incomparable @markhamillofficial.bsky.social!

As a huge Star Wars fan, his impact on that universe is immeasurable, but his body of work is so much larger than that. If you haven’t caught him in recent works by Mike Flanagan, you’re missing out.

HBD, Mark!

Spooky movie season continues! Today, I watched “Heretic”

First time seeing it! Love me some psychological horror and love Hugh Grant in his villain era. This was a clever, fun watch.
