Fittingly enough most Culture people end up back at "roughly" human just for the convenience and familiarity of it. It also takes place in a universe where human or humanoid is the majority lifeform.

The majority only live ~300-400 years on average! Then they die by choice. There are digital afterlives, though, and how long they spend in those is completely subjective.

Whoops typo for meh- *read

And I did say "might" but yeah, he had someone play Diablo 4 for him, he doesn't even do things for fun.

It never stops being funny to me how The Culture novels might be some of the only things he's actually ready but he totally, totally misses the point.

sex, that is. you literally just have to think it and your body starts the changes. You could have any sort of expression of traits you wanted. Any kind of body you wanted.

There's a dude who's a senior "government" spy who is a bush. A sentient bush.

I've gone through ~50lbs of flour making donuts at home and I'm still just OK.

I once went through 30lbs of butter and sugar learning to make toffee.

I know writers who use continuity and they're all cowards

Literally just never acknowledge it and it would be hilarious

It's true in some spaces but in many others the fact that there's so much excess material coming from meat production keeps the cost down.

Suet for outdoor bird feeders, for example, almost always still uses beef fat!
