The BMJ article also gave opportunity for 'gender critical' transphobes to add commentary - further misleading any medical professional reading the BMJ to believe their claims had validity.

In addition, Deb Cohen and Hannah Barnes also published their anti-trans article in the British Medical Association (BMA) professional publication, the British Medical Journal (BMJ) where Deb Cohen was an Editor.

This was a strategic move to try and give their claims credibility.
Gender dysphoria in children: puberty blockers study draws further criticism
An opportunity to strengthen the evidence base for these treatments in a particularly vulnerable group of patients may have been missed, say Deborah Cohen and Hannah Barnes , who catalogue new concern...

This BBC article was part of a wider anti-trans campaign by BBC Newsnight to frame The Tavistock GIDS service as 'dangerous' and puberty blockers as 'damaging'.

Just look at the blatantly obvious 'horror movie' imagery and 'tense music' used to manipulate emotions...

Here's the truth about how the BBC influenced both the law and the political agenda by manipulating public opinion.

In July 2019. Deborah Cohen and Hannah Barnes wrote a BBC article claiming the Tavistock puberty blockers study was "under HRA investigation"

It sounded like a scandal. It was not.

I think the combination of the dominance by the BBC of news, together with the levels of trust it enjoys, gives it a degree of influence which is unhealthy for it and for democracy. And it uses them to perpetuate a status quo-ism which is demonstrably failing the nation.

Personally I'd be pleased to see BBC News disappear entirely. To argue, as many do, that British politics or our news environment would be so much worse without the BBC you have to explain why British politics and news environment is so very bad with the BBC.
