I think true indie would mean being completely free from external stakeholders/financing, at which point the benefit comes from knowing the studio is making choices unfettered by corpo big cheeses. However, I don't think that's actually a very helpful definition of indie in the current ecosystem!

Tbh I think it looked better when used for scrawling "The Offspring" over a grainy black and white print out of the Conspiracy of One album cover sellotaped on a ring binder
