I am (let's say barely) enough years old to remember vendors at Sci Fi conventions selling "Where do they keep the nuclear wessels?" shirts and pins and such. It was everywhere for a while.

There is also Apple's "iCloud Private Relay" feature which is sort of VPN-lite. I've seen Google insist on Captchas when it gets cranky about not knowing my "real" IP. I could make the Captchas stop by turning off the relay, but I'd rather just not use Google.

I know I'm not. I think the locks pretty much nix impulse or casual purchases. I'm definitely not inclined to hit the pager button and wait for someone to show up and unlock the case unless it's something I really need or specifically came to the store for.

Oh wow, that's a very different menu from when I was last there. Looks really good! Definitely gets its share of Johns Hopkins students (how I found out about it) as it's right around the corner from the main campus.

The Paper Moon Diner in Baltimore is good (not great - good) food in an absolutely whacked-out fever dream of a space. It's... interesting.
