I worked some hours on a non-appropriated-funded prescribed fire, so here's my PP23 takehome in all its glory. That'll cover the car payment and a couple utility bills, I guess.

I did some exempt work on a prescribed fire funded by non-appropriated money last pay period, so this was my take-home for the last two weeks. The two weeks before that, I took home $0. The next two weeks, I was looking at $0.

I, a 15-year career federal employee, am responsible for ACA subsidies being taken away.
Not the tens of millions of people who voted to give Donald Trump's Republican Party control of the American government, no, they're blameless victims. It's my fault and I should suffer for it.
fuck this shit.

Because those higher prices translated to higher wages, particularly for the lowest-income Americans, and you can't just magically make that money appear from nowhere.

The shutdown hasn't been good for my waistline, so now I'm trying to get out and hike at least a mile in the park every day. And bonus: dusk over Snake Valley.

The military budget is only 13% of federal spending. Add veterans' benefits and you're at 18%.
Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid combine for 50% of all federal spending. (Which is good!)

OK, but that's just not even remotely close to true. That's false. It's a myth.
The data is public, here's a breakdown of federal spending. Half of all federal spending is Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The military is 13%.
