What a nonsense “argument.” “The fact that we don’t know whether they’re a threat, makes them more of a threat”? Seriously?

So, I may be lame, but I hadn’t seen/heard this usage of “ship” until today’s NYT crossword. And now you!

I laughed way too hard at that. I retract 40% of my amusement. No, 45%.

Good read. Good points. Still, I think I’ll wallow in the nihilism a bit longer. It’s only been a month. Let us grieve.

I love it! Otw back home after Thanksgiving, I used Siri in my car to find a CD on Spotify that I owned as a child because I wanted to hear a specific bassoonist perform a specific sonata. I couldn’t believe Spotify had it. (Rachel Gough and Saint-Saens for anyone interested).

He proves time and again that it is possible to find someone to be both lame and sexy. It’s hard to roll your eyes and stare at the same time.

Biden’s personal interests coinciding with the public’s doesn’t transform it into something unjust or lessen its sense of mercy. To me, his interests are a plus. His family has suffered so much, and he has given everything to the US, asking him to sacrifice his son too would be unjust/unmerciful.

The mistake was saying he wouldn’t do it. As the article below notes, “the pardon power is intended as a tool for justice and mercy…and to further ‘the public welfare.’ ” (quoting SCOTUS). Undoing political prosecutions of pols’ family meets all 3 criteria.

The Hunter pardon is only objectionable in the media’s “both-sidesism” framing. It’s different in virtually every respect. Even if it weren’t, I still wouldn’t care. A lifetime of service earns you an occasional selfish act. Frankly, I would judge Biden more harshly if he didn’t pardon Hunter.
