New genome assembly of a land snail🐌🎉
Krishnan et al. present annotated nuclear and mitochondrial genome assemblies of Indrella ampulla, a color polymorphic land snail endemic to the Western Ghats of India. The assembly has N50 of 632 kb, and 93.5% BUSCO completeness.

Problems and progress in getting molluscan 🐌 genome assemblies, new paper out. Although the publication was much delayed, we recently redid the analysis, finding that actually not much ahs improved 😔 academic.oup.com/mollus/artic...

@snail-ecol-evol.bsky.social et al. assemble the first chromosome-level genome of a Helicoidea snail. Combining short and long read data, they obtained a 2.18 Gbp assembly of Bradybaena similaris, a model for shell shape evolution and invasion biology.
