KOSA doesn't have to be a compromise feeding off biometric data of people already fighting to stay afloat. We don't have to settle for disposing of privacy in lieu of false "safety" our current tools can ALREADY circumvent.

We can do better. Please believe in that.

All of this to say - please, please consider the feedback and input I and the other artists local to you are giving.

We aren't just random voices online, we are people like you, many of whom rely on making the content we do because we have no other options. We are disabled, we are struggling as is.

It's easy to look away - but we are real people.

We have families, we have medical needs, we have debts.

It is an absolute nightmare to be stuck fighting for our last hope of survival under such extreme financial hardship and duress. Add onto that the loss of what little privacy we still have.

We are already facing so much threat from payment processors like MasterCard and Visa outright denying us the right to pay/be paid for the legal content we rely on to survive.

None of us want this content accessible to children!

We take every precaution to avoid it! It isn't for lack of trying.

So many of us have spent months upon months trying to organize and stay connected while watching each other slip through the cracks.

You may see us as degenerates. Strange people making obscene art.

But does LEGAL art intended for adults remove one's claim to humanity and compassion?

If so - why?

Be that eradicating our privacy through the harvesting of biometrics (of which not everyone can even afford to provide), or by losing access to spaces made for adults due to untenable moderation costs.

This will not save children.

But it WILL hurt US, while lining the pockets of others.

The changes brought about by KOSA will not help.

Many sites too small to adhere to changes will simply cease to be, or eradicate spaces where adult topics can be discussed. Further still, KOSA's age verification can be manipulated or co-opted to silence, censor, and target folks.

It will kill us.

However,

KOSA is not an equitable or well considered solution.

It is an innecective "easy" out.

One that promises to stamp out self employed artists making erotica, adult content creators, and so, so many more vibrant and creative marginalized voices using the free internet to survive.

I will acknowledge that it is vital for all of us to seek better solutions for the rapidly changing landscape of the internet.

Kids and adults sharing spaces like this online has never been ideal.

Many of us you have, and likely continue, to hear from have firsthand experience.

I am one myself.

Not only that; but she does not address how this bill will specifically affect my job and business in Oregon. My tax dollars pay for schools, roads, etc, and I'm specifically at risk of being censored and de-banked for *LEGAL MATERIAL*.
