She’s alive and causing me stress for many other reasons this season, but goddammit she loves Christmas so much that nothing else can compare to what I enjoyed under her roof every year, even if dragging my ass on a ladder to do the lights was like pulling teeth

Opposite side of the coin:

It’s taken me almost two decades of adulthood to realize that the reason I find decorating for Christmas so depressing and impossible now is that my mother isn’t doing it for me in the purest form of love she has, and that’s like a punch in the gut
