Grr ScotRail still haven't extended the Tap&Pay area. It's a pain living on the edge of the area.

You know what to do? I know what to do.

The real purpose of self driving cars is to prevent funding effective public mass transit.

Here's what to do.

Attached: 1 image "Door ajar" versus $100 billion valuation. Today I learned that you can DoS a Waymo by opening its door. "The More You Know..." Waymo, Google's autonomous vehicle company, and DoorDash, the delivery and gig work platform, have launched a pilot program that pays Dashers, at least in one case, around $10 to travel to a parked Waymo and close its door that the previous passenger left open. https://jwz.org/b/yk3Z

You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet?

And so I pretend not to hear her.

And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a […]

Anything a government does that reduces active travel will have society wide impact on health. Mandatory helmet laws where governments have been stupid enough to try them have seen a massive drop in people cycling, and the corresponding drop in society wide health.

If a government really cared […]

Good to see BTP make this policy change to investigate more cycle theft crime at stations, it's been a long time needed.

BTP to investigate more bike thefts after policy change
Critics said the old policy effectively "decriminalised" bike thefts at railway stations.

If you'd like to read more on this, I highly recommend the book "The miracle pill" by Peter Walker. It sets out clearly the arguments for promoting active travel, as well as simple changes we can make to the built environment to help us all become healthier.

So my toot about helmet laws increasing heart disease has got a few replies by people wondering wtf. The way it works is that mandatory helmet laws reduce cycling, fewer people cycling results in an increase in obesity related illnesses like heart disease and diabetes.

This is absolutely insane: DHS claims the right to subpoena your emails and to send investigators to your house. In this case, because a retiree sent the mildest possible criticism to a prosecutor. No judges involved.

I'd wondered about this before - if you put turbines in the best spots first, when is it worth pulling them down again to put up better ones.

After 30 years service, when you can get a 21x power upgrade, seems to be the answer here.
Ireland has dismantled its first commercial wind farm to make way for a step-change in scale. At Bellacorick Wind Farm, 21 early-generation turbines have been removed so Oweninny Wind Farm can expand. Each new turbine now generates more power than the entire 1992 Bellacorick site, illustrating […]

Yesterday I was in Hobbycraft and found something on offer from £2.50 down to £1, so got one. Got to the till and it was going through at the higher price. As I'd spotted a sign that they had missed taking down, I got the item at the lower price. Win.
