Like a cross between a hurricane, and a ship that’s run aground. Phish, Grateful Dead, mountain biking, snowboarding, gardening in Brattleboro, Vermont. Occasionally using my doctorate to talk about Phish.
Well that was fucking great

Watching Antiques Roadshow because Monday, and the closeup on this scene just showed the item and the Phish shirt. I was like “Phish!!” Then it pulled out to the wide shot and I was like “oh wait that’s Sylvan Esso.”

Today during the Phish Studies guided listening session we did all of the Mike’s Groove from 12/2/97 and unbeknownst to me, I spent a decent portion of leading said listening session with the show date projected across my forehead #datefacedboy #phishstudies

I am so very very excited to have organized the first meeting of the Phish Studies area at MAPACA (Mid-Atlantic pop/American culture association) conference this weekend in Philly! Three days of programming with 18 presentations including a guided listening session. So proud of my fellow colleagues

We all think of 2004 Phish as a total shit show, and some of it was, but holy shit that June 04 tour was banger after banger every night. Super high-level jams almost every night. Stuff that makes you ask “what show is this??!!!!” because you never listen to it. This CD is the best of the best

There are more children of original members of the Grateful Dead involved in the aftershows than there will be original members of the Grateful Dead playing onstage in Golden Gate Park

Sunday’s highlight was absolutely the closing set, “Songs for the People,” a Superjam singalong curated by Josh Kaufman that had amazing artists singing incredible songs. I only got one video: Rick from Goose, Matt from Mt. Joy, Eric D Johnson from Bonny Light Horseman, and Trombone Shorty on Eyes
