This apple-cranberry crisp is fragrant with citrus and cinnamon and is topped with an improved polenta streusel that tastes like buttery crumbled cornbread. I refreshed this recipe this week and it's now less sweet and perfect for the fall-winter holiday.

New! We're turning a bag of baby carrots into a spotlight-stealing side dish with a brown butter sauce and a cheesy toasted breadcrumb topping for a resounding crunch and the perfect level of decadence.

Six simple tips to send your (corn syrup-free) pecan pie game into the stratosphere -- and yes, one of them is how to add chocolate, because I know us. Just-good-enough pecan pie would never cut it around here.

This is Smitten Kitchen's only turkey recipe, because you'll never need another: burnished, perfectly cooked and crisp-skinned on a bed of onions that have been cooked in salty, buttery drippings. Oh, and there are five ingredients. And gravy. You've got this!

This roasted cabbage is a site favorite because much more than it seems: A warm salad for cold weather. Starter Cabbage for people who are cabbage hesitant. Better from the tray than a serving dish, thus rewarding laziness, you're welcome.

A luxe longtime favorite, this is a sleeper recipe for a gloriously rich, deeply maple-y pie, creamy baked pie. I've toned down the nutmeg over the years so it doesn't blot out the other flavors, but mostly left everything as perfect as it's always been.

I started making my Thanksgiving sweet potatoes like this a few years ago and haven't looked back. When slow-roasted, sweet potatoes get sweeter, louder, and more nuanced than seems possible. The salty, lightly blackened skin provides a heavenly, crispy contrast.

These tender breakfast buns infused with orange zest and wound with a brown sugar cranberry filling that becomes almost jammy as they bake are exquisitely good right now or for any holiday breakfasts you have ahead. They’re one of my all-time favorite recipes.

Apples, butterscotch, and gingerbread star in my favorite upside-down cake of all time. A big dollop of softly whipped cream on top is a requirement. I recently refreshed it; it's now more spiced, uses fewer bowls, and is scaled down to fit in a 9-inch pan.

These balsamic-braised brussels sprouts from @suzannegoin are perfect in every way -- shallots, garlic, crisped pancetta, and balsamic all mingle together and infuse the tender brussels sprouts. A smattering of crisped thyme breadcrumbs finishes it off.

A no-boil, one-skillet, utterly cozy and decadent baked macaroni and cheese that’s become my forever go-to. I think you make it immediately as written for dinner tonight, and then double it for all of the holiday crowds ahead.

"Make apple pie? On a Tuesday?!" I promise, I haven't finally lost it, you can absolutely pull off minimalist apple pie with a flaky crust and sliced apples dotted with butter and sprinkled with sugar, and your weekday will be so much better for it.

A favorite centerpiece salad that feels like the epitome of fall with roasted squash, toasted pepitas, pomegranate, and a showstopping sherry-shallot vinaigrette. Everyone loves when you make this salad.

A orange-zested cranberry pecan bread studded with tart berry gems and finished with a snowglobe-like crunch on top so perfect it makes me forget every quickbread that came before it (pumpkin who?) and also converted me to enjoying nuts in loaf cakes.

There’s good roast chicken, and then there’s Judy Roger’s legendary approach — dry brine (a fancy term for salting and leaving it), crazy crisp skin and a salad that’s akin to deconstructed stuffing. This is one of my favorite luxurious but low-key fall dinners.

These are fixation-worthy apple dumplings. When you cut into each packet, flakes of buttery crust scatter and a trickle of spiced brown sugar floods your plate, mingling with the whiskey-infused glaze that had melted over the sides.

My everyday meatballs are one-bowl, one-pot, frying-free and have so much flavor, they work as a standalone dish or with a side of salad, and by "salad" I mean garlic bread.
