The false savings and damage done by DOGE
The heyday of the Department of Government Efficiency – DOGE – may be behind us, but the federal initiative once led by billionaire Elon Musk leaves a devastating legacy of mass layoffs, shuttered agencies, and a lack of transparency. MS NOW Producer Steve Benen says that DOGE has “been a failure in its own terms.” However, in terms of promoting the goals of Project 2025, DOGE succeeded to “break the inertia, speed these things up, normalize them, make them more acceptable,” according to Media Matters President Angelo Carusone.
