I researched this for the awful work laptop and found out Windows power plans have secret fields to control processor max Mhz, even separately for P-/E-cores. There might be a power limit one too!

oh oh oh let me guess, it's an Intel 11th gen H processor thingy?

my work ThinkPad absolutely SUCKS because it's from those two gens of Intel mobile sucking (10-11), and because Lenovo absolutely skimped on the cooling setup. throttles out of the box at <40W.

Supposedly you want cooler white in the bathroom, but I never really liked that. 3000K in the bathroom is a good compromise.

Oh I HATED those fluorescent bulbs! The landlord in my last apt (built 2009!) cheaped out on lights (among everything else) and put those across the whole thing, at COLD WHITE too. They had special bulb sockets, so I couldn't replace them. I bought standing lights and just never turned them on.

Oh also: I recommend going for just warm lighting (2700K), or neutral-warm (3000K) at max. (Or a bulb with 3 white levels, if you must) No cold blue white lights. You get that from the sun at daytime.

I use their smart home features to set up automatic lighting intensities throughout the day.

But even without a hub, just being dimmable means you don't need to guess the right lumen per bulb when you're kitting a home. (So: perfect if you're unsure what light intensity you really need)

If you're looking for smart home lighting, I 100% recommend IKEA's TRADFRI (and recent "Kajplats" Matter-compatible series).

We've used them for nearly 5 years across 3 homes (2 fully kitted with 30+ smart bulbs each) and they're rock solid with a good CRI (aka good accurate lighting).

"IPS" and "HDR" usually don't mix together, but I'll wait for the test results. Maybe it has proper local dimming.

don't be ridiculous, that would take too long

ask chatgpt to do it

this is unironically not a bad idea, given how it'd take zero battery, too

the flip side is that if Amazon actually did that, I'm sure the $30 cheaper ad-supported version would just show ads on the back to everyone on the subway

but what if I have an ereader but also a bookcase filled with physical copies, just for looking pretty?

THANK YOU
the new icon is completely broken in clear+dark mode on iOS 26, but it looks like the dark variation in this menu does work (it successfully cuts the logo out + modifies the colors)

I kinda like it EXCEPT for how iOS 26 clear mode doesn't seem to know how to modify it, it can't even cut out the icon shape
