3. Ruby Bridges wasn't the only six year old little girl to integrate New Orleans schools that day. The McDonogh Three - Leona Tate, Gail Etienne, and Tessie Prevost - also integrated the all white McDonogh 19 Elementary School.

They were all known as The New Orleans Four.

4. Much like the stories of Rosa Parks and Claudette Colvin five years earlier, the McDonogh Three's story has been buried into history.

But here's the thing:

All four of these women are still alive, including Ruby Bridges. But it just goes to show that if we neglect our stories, they disappear
