I dunno, why 𝘥𝘪𝘥 you follow me?
I really liked him in this, icky age gap aside. I thought his character came off like an elegant but wounded crow.

I swear, Alan Rickman was some sort of fae creature.

Wait, did we seriously get a last second Kate Winslet/Alan Rickman pairing??? What the heck was that???
November 25, 2025 at 12:50 AM
No, you played that totally cool, Elinor, I don't think anyone noticed your reaction

Hugh Grant is just Michael Cera for Drama Club kids
November 25, 2025 at 12:44 AM
That would be the modern day equivalent of ending the movie with Emma Thompson going to wait for a job interview and she goes into an empty office and the camera pulls out of the window to reveal she's in the world trade center

Me, in the future, is like, oh! Jane Austen! You nasty, girl! Those graves weren't event grassed over yet!
November 25, 2025 at 12:38 AM
I'm like, I know how an author thinks, Jane Austen wrote this as taking place in the mid 1790s. She wrote that timeframe to take advantage of the horrible, awful, no good ice storm that had been in the news. Her audience is like, oh, yeah, the moors in '95, bad idea.

Marianne is also going to catch pneumonia and die, 1795 Devonshire was host to a historical freezing climate.
November 25, 2025 at 12:24 AM
Marianne has gone beyond the hedge

Lol the gals are stuck in a carriage with Imelda and Laurie
November 25, 2025 at 12:18 AM
Every single time Hugh Grant awkwardly shuffles into a scene I just want to put him in a velvet chair and tell him to be quiet and listen to Elinor and just shut up and be pretty and close your mouth
November 25, 2025 at 12:15 AM
Ooooooh, Elinor just told Marianne "My heart's broken too bitch, you ain't special"
November 25, 2025 at 12:13 AM
It's throwing me off that Hugh Grant is Prince Charming here when in real life he was a philanderer, with Alan Rickman playing Emma Thompson's admirer, when in a different role opposite her he played her philandering husband, and Thompson's real life husband was a philanderer.

Men is too headache.

A Tortured Rickman Monologue while Emma Thompson Emotes

This that good good
November 25, 2025 at 12:01 AM
Oooh, a formally worded letter from Willoughby.

ASS.

Gosh, this almost feels exactly like Mr. Darcy's backstory. Like we're seeing it from the perspective of the girl that Wickham wronged.

Was Jane Austen workin' some shit out on the page?
November 24, 2025 at 11:59 PM
Wouldn't be Jane Austen without someone having the world's worst ball whilst the man she cares the most for regards her coldly and her sister escorts her fretfully from the room
November 24, 2025 at 11:53 PM
Robert Ferrars, the younger. Now I know why they had coming out parties, this one isn't done cooking yet!
November 24, 2025 at 11:51 PM
When you've found the right one, you trade in your Shakespeare for a good old fashioned happy ever after.

Dame Edna is killing it in this movie as the landlord wine aunt

November 24, 2025 at 11:37 PM
Imelda Staunton and Hugh Laurie *chef's kiss*

If my shithead brother kicked me, Mom and my sister out of the family house and gave me monopoly money to live off of, the ink would not be dry before these hands would be thrown
November 24, 2025 at 11:18 PM
Aside: Alan Rickman was, by all accounts, a lovely man; my brain momentarily cross-connected his theatrical role as Emma Thompson's unfaithful husband in Love Actually with him having been her real life ex husband.

That'd be Ken Branagh.

Rickman was monogamous, he was just good at playing a creep.
