Call me white, call me old, even call me a hippie. But back off criticizing my napping! #naps4eva
Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."

The author of the post is an absolute fool. He either actually believes he's not political, or he thinks we're dumb enough to believe it. He knows nothing about how most universities work, but that doesn't stop him from rambling in absolutes. I can't believe anyone published this.
In which a Yale prof calls for jettisoning humanities to make way for science-only universities.

“scientists… are being punished for the sins of [humanities scholars] because we all live under one roof. I cannot see a compelling reason for our continued cohabitation.”
Unyoke the Sciences From the Humanities
Arts and sciences typically cohabitate. Should they?

Let me put it this way: Apple has all the money it could ever want. It can afford to pay the full cost of making iPhones. Instead, Harvard et al. subsidize Apple by educating its future employees.

But … (1/2)
Universities that prioritize “commercializable” fields over the humanities have long had it exactly backwards. Maybe one thing that comes out of all this is that we’ll finally realize this.

I'm no historian, but it's probably safe to say we've never had a US president who wasn't spanked as a child. Wonder what the first one might be like.

How bad will it be? Catastrophic.

Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come.

But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget.

Speak up now before it is too late.

In 1960, Yale psychologist Stanley Milgram published results of an experiment in which Americans were ordered to inflict harm on others. Today, in Trump's America, the entire country is a part of an updated Milgram experiment. My Nation column on this...

America Is Now One Giant Milgram Experiment
