Oh man, you really kicked the hornet’s nest on this one. I’m not EVEN gonna ask you about Wilma vs. Betty.

I was flying DFW-IAD one day and somewhere over NC I noticed the changing angle of sunbeams. Uh oh, what’s going on? Turns out ATC had put us into a holding pattern bc of congestion. Pilot flew a few lazy ovals, got bored, then did a figure 8. 😎 Continued w/o incident after 20 min. Blue skies!

Oh, nice, I hadn’t heard about that! Looking forward to it.

I just ran across this elsewhere and thought, “I’ll message @hypervisible.blacksky.app to see if he’s still collecting these stories” and the answer is yes, yes he is. 🫠

“Kavanaugh Stop” needs to be elevated to a legal term of art like “Terry Stop”.

At every press conference, Mamdani is asked about Israel/Palestine… why is he so MONOMANIACAL about it??!?

There was also this:

Curious that, at a supposed terrorist rally, the actual instances of threatened violence came from Trump supporters. (Not curious at all, really.)
Woman accused of brandishing gun at SC ‘No Kings’ rally, police say
A woman was arrested after reportedly brandishing a gun during a “No Kings” rally in South Carolina.

Yes. The term “Kavanaugh Stop” needs to be pinned on him. Unlike a Terry Stop (after Terry v. Ohio) which requires reasonable suspicion, a Kavanaugh Stop merely requires the officer to not like the way a person looks.

Alan Bateman asked a followup question in that bug report. He suggests you join the jigsaw-dev@openjdk mailing list and post your use case for jimage there. (You need to join before posting.) It's easier to talk on email than via the bug report. Let me know if you need help with the openjdk lists.

Hi Jörg, thanks for following up. I posted a comment on the bug report bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8... . I also know the folks involved so I'll probably end up chatting with them directly. No guarantees, but at least I think the right people know about this now.

Yeah, ListN doesn't have a specialized spliterator implementation, so it uses AbstractList's RandomAccessSpliterator. It would probably be fairly simple to have it use ArraySpliterator. The difference is that the List RAS has a get() call vs direct array access. Seems like a moderate gain.
