#Iris season is just over here, but here is the lovely "Gold of Ophir", #HistoricIris from 1955. This was the first year it bloomed in my #garden. As you can see, it appreciates some shade in Arizona!

Dark prickly pear pads are edged in gold where the sun strikes them. At the center is a lemon yellow bloom with two bees inside. One is hovering, and the other has tumbled onto her back inside the flower. Barely visible flecks of yellow pollen are flying up inside the bloom.
