This is a problem if Kafka wants to play Dart in meaningless games that Dart should NOT be playing in as he recovers from the concussion.

You've picked a great time 😀 SO much progress in #RStats #RSpatial geospatial tools in the last few years! bsky.app/profile/kyle...
All 8.1 million US Census blocks.

Visualized smoothly in 3D.

Instant population and housing totals from a lasso selection.

All running seamlessly in the browser, no traditional backend.

While everyone’s talking about AI, it’s an incredible time for geospatial tech.

The US had fractured sources of information for most of its existence. The "three TV networks" giving mostly the same news (all from trusted white men) was an anomaly. Newspapers were often highly partisan before then.

Giants drafted Saquon (key contributor in winning a Super Bowl on another team). Giants drafted Daniel Jones (tied for NFL's best record on another team). It's not like they wasted good draft picks. I doubt Tom Brady in his prime could with this team.

As a Giants fan, I think that's a great idea 🤣

It is astonishing that Brian Daboll still has a job.

Oh, Daniel Jones is now 8-2. But QB was the Giants' problem 🤡🤡🤡

Can they
Combine demographic, economic, and spatial data without drawing conclusions that aren't warranted from the data
Create maps that are easy to understand and interpret
Find a sweet spot between complexity and simplicity
Make maps that are compelling to view and encourage engagement

I'm no longer hiring, but I know what I'd be looking for in a data journalist doing geospatial work in 2026.
Do they know:
When a map makes sense to tell a story and when it doesn't
When AI can help and when it can't
How to supervise and check AI
How to learn new tools, things are moving so fast!

Thank you for sharing all this cool up-to-date info, and for the {mapgl} #RStats 📦. I really enjoy using it!

Most people between, say, the ages of 65 and 75 are not in wheelchairs or walking with canes. Rather #ageist illustration. Also, lumping “over 65” into a single category makes little sense when the difference between 75 and 85 is likely vastly greater than 45 and 55. Only Medicare makes 65 matter.

I find ‘question‘ headlines with the effect of smearing a particular group or point of view - but trying to sound a bit less biased - both cowardly and distasteful.

But the new one is OK?

And we can't have easy free online tax filing because Intuit. Sigh.
I don't think we could get public libraries built now if they didn’t already exist. They compete with bookstores! They let multiple people share 1 item of intellectual property!
FedEx is happy to have public $ maintain roads though.

🤣🤣🤣 Wouldn't Mamdani likely push to open city-run grocery stores in neighborhoods which don’t have grocery stores *because the private sector chooses not to serve those areas*? Seems less of an economic threat than ‘I don’t like you using public $ to help people who aren’t rich.”

Ooo thanks for the tip! is that new for MapLibre?
November 8, 2025 at 2:10 PM
SAME. I don't think I can watch my own lightning talk again!
