Tried a technique to simulate clearcoat failing.
Just need to try some stuff to lock down the crusties on the edges of the patches.

Did a fun collab with an artist a while ago, I designed and produced some 3d printed wheels in 1:24 scale, added a sprue just like the real injection-cast wheel sets we wanted to replicate too. Full circle😅

There's a scale model product that is iron paint and an oxidizing agent used to add real rust to your builds.
It smells funky but the results are very convincing IMO!
The oxidizing agent can be diluted with water for more subtle effects and to add variance too.

Mess around in Meshmixer with the sculpt mode, it's fun!! You'll need to meshwrap the model first though (super easy in Meshmixer).
I couldn't figure out how to apply a texture in Blender so I just messed around adding damage/texture to this in Meshmixer while listening to music😅

Mess around in Meshmixer with the sculpt mode, it's fun!! You'll need to meshwrap the model first though (super easy in Meshmixer).

The chrome pen on the top of the spokes looks all shitty like the chearcoat is peeling off the exposed brushed metal like on the 1:1 wheels sometimes... happy accident😅

Bulldogged the backlog of The OC, Again podcast over the last couple weeks. @alexsteed.bsky.social and @nikostratis.com are a soothing balm for my smooth little stressed brain. The OC exists in my head ONLY as Niko and Alex have described it. I vow to never watch it in order to preserve this magic.
