When I post my own images here, they will tend to be photorealistic or Pixar CGI style:
– I find photorealism more aesthetically interesting, especially when it's depicting the absurd/impossible
– My actual artist friends are already disappointed enough with me consorting with the enemy

My context, a 🧵:
I started in 2000 by using 3D applications to design original characters. The methodology we used for OCs was taking a relatively neutral base figure, then adjusting dials/applying morphs/3rd party sculpt tools to alter proportions and features. Two examples 14 years apart below:

The problem was never diversity, it was the inability to apply it in context. Checkpoints for SD return what you train them on but if you change the rules for what they return, they won't know Popes are generally white men and slaves in the US weren't.

The problem was never diversity, it was the inability to apply it in context. Checkpoints for SD return what you train them on but if you change the rules for what they return, they won't know Popes are generally white men and slaves in the US weren't.
The more bizarre the images are, the more they tell us about the person who prompted them, like a Rorschach inkblot.

One vaguely interesting use is to take systems where a model has been trained on a cartoon character, then instruct the prompt to draw the character "photorealistic" with the negative prompt "cartoon, rendered, CGI, painted, drawn, illustrated, sculpted, puppet" to ensure it does its best.
