I forgot to cancel my subscription after the 7-day trial and now I fear I'm stuck with 2026 for the next 356 more days.

This...is a really apt analogy. The bad restaurant has given everyone food poisoning, and now we need our representatives make sure it can't hurt people any further by taking away its license.
If it helps, people are mad at Democrats because many of their social media presences produce comms which address what's happening as though we're simply dealing with the consequences of going along with a bad restaurant recommendation.

The food isn't just bad, we want to shut down the restaurant.

Cursed knowledge: a hospital performed forced sterilizations between 1924 and the 70's when the law was repealed, as well as electroshock therapy. They vacated the premises in the 70's, the complex became a prison for a while, and is now a hotel and residences.
Stay classy, [StateRedacted].

I just transferred some money from Venmo to my bank. I hit "Send" in Venmo for the instant transfer. Less than a second later, my bank app had triggered a push notification on my phone about the transfer being received.
We live in the gorram future.

It boggles my mind when I think about the fact that the B-52 has been flying for 73 years, and the youngest ones currently in service were manufactured in 1963. The Air Force currently has plans to keep flying them into the 2050's or beyond.

I don't know which is more impressive: the idea of a 1/2 scale Death Star, or the fact that it's only $20.04 at full price.

I was having a lovely low-energy day, then came on here to post something interesting I'd learned only to go, "Wait, what did this misadministration do now? They did WHAT?!"

TIL that while henges derive their names from Stonehenge, Stonehenge itself is not a henge.

This year, I read 117 books of my 60 book goal. (I somehow doubt I'm going to finish another one today).

Filed under places I need to visit...
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

I really have to give the BBC props for a fantastic job with diverse casting in the most recent Doctor Who series and "The War Between Land and Sea."
Also, I really did like Ncuti Gatwa's portrayal of the Doctor, and I'm sad he only got 18 episodes. #DoctorWho #BBC

I feel like the Doctor's monologue in "Lucky Day" could be written to a certain political party not in the UK. Hell, the entire episode explains why you should never see UNIT in the US.

AI is rapidly becoming a danger to society. Until it is free of these hallucinations, it should be treated with skepticism.
New from me: The storied fiddler Ashley MacIsaac wanted to play a show at a Nova Scotia First Nation. It got cancelled because Google's AI search summary incorrectly called him a sex offender. Now he's worried for his safety www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/arti...

If Vicks is able to make NyQuil that tastes reasonable, why can't they do the same with DayQuil?
