Other dems can stand behind their principles and remain loyal to their base, and the gov’t reopens. They get a double boost. I know that’s counter to standing your ground. It gets the wheels turning, gives dems a bump on top of a good election. It’s calculating, it’s risky, it was also necessary.

What I know is that our society is collapsing. It’s not just federal workers. It’s the private sector, the nonprofit world - it’s all of us. If it hasn’t hit you yet, hold onto your hats, it will. Your life is changing beyond your control. We are serfs and the ruling class gives no craps about us.

This politics of personality serves no one. It reinforces our natural instincts that it’s all about me. Guess what it’s not. I learn that lesson every day on a personal level. I fully admit that I don’t know how we change that trajectory. Dare I say it’s insidious?

She is the kind of senator that this district deserves. She cares deeply about and understands the intricacies of fair housing, she knows firsthand how equity builds better lives for everyone, and she will build bridges in the legislature for her constituents and the communities she serves.

9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.
10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.

I’m crushed. I feel sick. While I didn’t know her well, she was a key supporter for my friend who ran for the MN House in 2006. She was a kind, generous, and steadfast person. I don’t have the words.
