All I know is when I'm talking with my coworkers they find it much more relatable when I open up about struggles than when I'm blindingly positive.

We have to meet everyone where they're, at right? 💙

Who can blame them?

We don't have retirement, we don't have pension, unions have two tracks where the new people will never make as much money, college degrees lost value...

I often stand with these jaded youth. The people ahead of me certainly didn't want to give me a good start. 😮‍💨

It will have to break through the hustle and grind and self-reliance culture that has been required to survive, unfortunately.

No longer are they encouraged to be a good participant in the "community". It's a market to sell to.

And those young people will continue to think that you don't see their pain. They will continue to not hear you because you're speaking from a place with even more than they feel they will ever have.

If you do not acknowledge the hopelessness and loss in this generation

then you will lose them.

Too much and you lie to yourself.
Too much and you lose your identity.

Positivity can bulldoze over true conviction that would drive you forward.

If you can't look the evil in the eye
and call it for what it is then it's going to continue to speak over you.
