We organise fun cycling events & we advocate for Sligo to become walking, cycling & wheeling friendly for all ages & abilities.
Today in the Clayton Hotel #PowerToChange, a collaboration between Sligo PPN & @atu-ie.bsky.social held a celebration of its #ClimateEducationClubs work with young people. Earlier this month #PowerToChange launched its video series with adult community groups. www.sligoppn.com/power-to-cha...

Great framing of cycling in a broader context, it's not just about cycle lanes and not just about commuting either. Love the neighbourhood angle! @unalestrange.bsky.social @daveysean.bsky.social @lucyhayes.bsky.social

What an interesting article! Sounds like Cork is a very happening place for cycling but we will certainly be going for the train option to Little Island! Dunkettle reminds us of the roundabout formerly known as The Mad Cow! A loop with added ferry and a market at the end Looks like a winner!

Spring is in the air & members & friends of Sligo Cycling Campaign are going to stretch our legs a little bit farther now & start a #MonthlyCycle to #GoStrandhill. This is not an organised event just a meet up at 11 am in Strandhill on the 1st Sunday of the month. See you there!

👍Ger Herbert for almost single-handedly taking on the role in print, broadcast & sm of explaining what is changing re speed limits and why & when! The point re "Hey! People live on these roads & sometimes need to go about their lives on 🚶🏃‍♀️🚲 👩‍🦼 🚌 not necessarily in 🚘🚗" was very well made

Yes agreed! Unfortunately another publisher of numerous regional newspapers allowed a shockingly inaccurate headline to accompany its digital editions. The factual info on how to identify the different road categories is most useful. We know" the road to town" or "Granny's road" not the L1234
Finally some factual reporting on the implementation of speed limit reductions on Local roads.

80kph was never an appropriate limit for this classification of road.

Fairplay to @thejournal.ie for informing the public while others choose to score political points.

Speed limit reductions are coming into effect this month - here's what you need to know
Spped limits will be reduced from 80km/h to 60km/h in February in an aim to reduce road fatalities.
