It can be really hard to confront someone that you care about. We want relationships to continue and confrontation can feel like a threat to that.

But don't write a laundry list. Hand wash your delicates.

I've been victim to this professionally and in relationships. Honestly, in the past I have done it myself. It allows you to gain a feeling of control without actually doing anything.

But also some people are just shitty and enjoy putting others in a lose-lose scenario.

Don't let things fester.
Don't be afraid to ask if a certain social or professional anxiety is justified.

I suppose I am just hashing this out so I can see it in writing for the first time but I would also be interested to hear if this resonates with anyone who reads this wall of text.

None of this excuses genuine misbehaviour, but oftentimes it is something mundane or a "way you talk" that could very easily remedied.

If you are victim to this, you do actually have to plead guilty but it is also vital that you call out the laundry lister too.

Power dynamics are really complex.

I know so many good people who have been victim to this, both personally and professionally. Because they want to be *good* they are devastated to learn that they've been causing upset without knowing it. It can trigger anxiety that lasts an extremely long time. It often ends relationships entirely.

It is done both knowingly and passively. In either case it is vindictive and unfair.

Self awareness is often incongruous and variable. If you do not call out a person's bad actions, and they do not know that they are doing them, then they have no chance to improve their behaviour.

This puts them in an indefensible position. They can only beg forgiveness from the accuser and they have little chance at reconciliation.

It's a big stack of "gotchas" that often cannot actually be denied. In reality the accuser is at fault too for doing nothing.

This often involves gossip and unfair representation of the truth. Resentment builds and builds.

The end result (or "laundry day") is when the victim finally goes too far and crosses an imperceivable threshold. They're told off for The Last Straw and also given a list of wrongs that they've done.

IME neurodivergent people are the most common victims of this.

If you do not address misbehaviour as soon as possible and start letting it stack up, you are culpable for any future repercussions. Instead of "letting it slide" you harbour resentment for the victim of your negligence/passiveness.

i understand that these corporations are beloved by many, but as soon as you start defending their use of AI, even if it's "a little bit", i need you to understand that you are being used as a corporate tool to normalize AI. reject it with all your might. corporations arent your friend.

Youtube doesn't like it when we scrutinize their cash machine that's fueled by live orphans and puppies, lest we uncover how horrible it is under Youtube's hood. Youtube doesn't want to get caught with another COPPA or COPPA adjacent violation, so they instead silence discussions of the problem.

Sick of being told "you have to give up on your principles to survive" FUCK THAT AND FUCK THE THEFT MACHINE THAT ALL THESE FUCKING COMPANIES WILL BANKRUPT THEMSELVES IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO KEEP, IT'S EASIER TO JUST HIRE WORKERS AND PAY THEM WELL FOR THEIR EFFORTS.

I've had to unfollow SEVERAL streamers because they touched these AI games thinking "ehh, a bag's a bag, right?" not caring that the bag was based on labor exploitation. They won't stop at one inch, they won't even stop once they own the world. Don't relent, no excuses for breaking your principles.

Immaculate. No notes. Also to streamers that have played these AI games, shame on you for such reckless cowardice and terminal bag chasing that you couldn't even uphold these principles yourself. We have to be absolute in our fight against worker exploitations and AI.
