Yeah it is unfortunately much harder to do on Windows, specifically keeping it running 24/7 which is important since it acts as your DNS server. I’m sure it is doable but it was enough of a pain that I chose to migrate my server to Linux instead.

Um, medium difficulty in initial setup I would say, with a disclaimer that I work in tech (but I’m also a dumbass and I don’t like doing anything too fiddly when I’m not getting paid for it). Once it’s set you don’t have to mess with it much if at all. Is your plex server running on Linux?

I should note that I’m also running something called AdGuard Pro on my iPhone, I think I paid for it years ago, and it might be doing some of the blocking here, but my impression from when I use my phone away from home is that it’s gotten worse over time and doesn’t work as well as the pihole.

Are you running your plex server locally? If so, it’s pretty easy to also run something called pi-hole on it, which among other things acts as a pretty effective network level ad blocker. You do have to also mess with your router settings a bit, and the downside is if the server goes down, you’ll

A few years ago me, my wife, and both kids were watching the fireworks on the 4th from our very high up rear balcony. Our younger daughter decided to go inside, and conscientiously locked the sliding door behind her, which we didn’t realize she’d done until she was upstairs with headphones on.
