AP article uses the word luminaries to describe Epstein. It drives me nuts when people whose job it is to use words effectively to convey meaning suck at it. Luminary generally has a positive connotation, but I suppose he was a person of brilliant achievement in sex trafficking & abuse.
Exerpt from an AP article on the release of the Epstein files. "Epstein was a luminary who kept company with heads of state, influential political figures, academics and billionaires. The release of his emails and messages by a House Oversight Committee investigation last week has already shown his connections with — and private conversations about — Trump and many other high-powered figures." Definition of Luminary: a person of prominence or brilliant achievement

I think this is one of the greatest political speeches in US history. The phrase "last full measure of devotion" gives me chills when I read it. Reminds me of the letter to Mrs. Bixby in a way - "to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." 1/

Eating breakfast with Bubba at Milk & Honey. I was good all week, and this is my reward. One of the best things I've ever eaten. Biscuits, scrambled eggs, fried chicken thigh, all covered in a Cajun cream sauce.

Reached my favorite bit of poetry in LOTR. I know I share it every year, but it perfectly captures my fall/winter mood so you get it again.
My favorite verse this year is the 3rd.
"I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see."
