River Bank Lupine is a big one, with super showy flowers in late Spring and is green year around! It's a fantastic weed suppressor. Oregon Sunshine is a bright and cheerful plant! It grows up to 2 ft tall when in flower, and while not in flower tends to hover around 1 ft tall and forms a lovely silver evergreen mat. It's an excellent weed suppressor while still playing well with it's neighbors. Seaside Daisy is a looong blooming evergreen beauty! It starts blooming at the end of April and when happy and with a little deadheading can continue through November! I have 8 that are still blooming today (November 19)! Douglas Iris is Oregon's only native evergreen Pacific Coast Iris! It's extremely showy while flowering, and once the flowers have disappeared it has a beautiful clump grass appearance that continues through the Winter!

Pearly Everlasting is still blooming, though many of their flowers are going to seed now Seaside Daisy is surprising me this year. Even mid-November these plants are still blooming and producing blossoms! While most of the show has ended, Globe Gilia is still producing pretty little blue pom pom flowers in mid-November! Can't forget the Pacific Aster, which is also still producing flowers in mid-November!

Not sure if you end up with salad box clam shells the way we do at home, but with holes punched in the top and bottom they are wonderful mini greenhouses for starting seeds as well!

Pearly Everlasting is still flowering strongly through late October and only just starting to produce seeds. Seaside Daisy has been producing flowers and seeds for months already and is still loaded with flower buds waiting to open! California Fuchsias are loaded with flowers, much to the delight of the hummingbirds! And Coyote Bush is still flowering even as it is producing seeds. And it will continue to flower for at least another month! This one is a gorgeous female (seed producer) located near Monmouth, OR

Salal is gorgeous year around. Starting in mid-late spring it's adorned with beautiful little pink-white bell shaped flowers. Salal makes a great shady hedge and is a great addition to hedgerows Salal continues to flowers even while adorned with ripe berries. Salal is evergreen making it a wonderful garden addition for Winter interest!

Discovered an adult California Glowworm, also called Western Firefly (Ellychnia californica) while planting a Red Elderberry! I had no idea they lived in northwestern Oregon!

Discovered some (new to me) natives moving into our wooded back acre! The first is Alpine Enchanter's-nightshade! It's a member of the primrose family and a fantastic groundcover. The second is Slender-footed sedge! Such an elegant and lush looking bunch grass!

There are so many little native meadow remnants in and around St. Helens, Oregon. In the Spring there is a surprising number of little Camas and Seablush patches growing unnoticed in city parks and along the side of the road!
