At least in WA, in theory drivers are supposed to still give you 3' clearance even if you're in a bike lane. But when the bike lane is <4' wide and someone throws their door open...

To be fair, most people do want AI to do the things in life that humans hate.

It doesn't help when traffic "engineers" insist on counting pedestrian volumes that won't be there until the crosswalk is installed.

Or give them an award and then make them do it for all the other, more critical, ship systems.

So... cargo bikes then?

The only time I've been hit I was in head-to-toe reflective gear, blinding lights, and on a Stay Healthy street next to a school. The only thing that drivers might care enough about to look up from their phones might be the possibility we scratch their paint as we go over or under the hood.

Every intersection like that I just fill my lungs ready to yell.

Why limit yourself to just season 6?

When I run across a blocked bike lane, I make sure I go extra slow in the driving lane for at least a block. Every additional car adds another block. The smart drivers realize what they're getting with bike lanes.

Yes, I was surprised too! The synergy of Link!

A couple weeks ago we took advantage of the new 222 bus route to get to the Tolt Pipeline trail, then walked to Kingsgate to catch the 535 to Lynnwood, then Link back to Seattle. Lots of cool wildlife and great fall colors!

Even "minor" illness can be serious. I had a college friend die from complications from mono. If there were an EBV vaccine I would get it without a second thought.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is tracked under "hood-denting impact" instead.

They are very nice bus stops, unless you happen to be in a wheelchair or otherwise need a ramp, and then you're made to detour 30-60 minutes out of your way for some indefinite period of time that's already gone on for over 6 months. www.soundtransit.org/ride-with-us...

This happened a few months after I moved to Seattle, almost 20 years ago, and I still think about it whenever I'm in a basement. The city addressed the drainage here for rich people, but poorer areas of south Seattle flood regularly, especially at high tide. archive.seattletimes.com/archive/2006...

Or recognize that an old house has had a good life and should be replaced. We didn't want anything to do with asbestos, lead paint, derelict oil tanks, knob&tube wiring, etc when we were looking for places to live, and all those older places can be just as expensive as the newer places

Bruce Harrell, Sarah Nelson, and Ann Davidson have had their chance but would rather pass up tens of millions in state support to make this roadway safer, just to keep their rich constituencies comfortable.

For an example of a program that is working in my South Seattle community in schools, in a way that doesn't leave kids out, check out Bike Works riding programming that runs after school programs at Title 1 schools for middle and high school students.
