Alrighty, I finished 5 pages, figured out a colour treatment for the next scene, and then prepped the last eight pages in this chapter for the next time I sit down to work. For now, it is 4:30pm and I have a mighty hunger for calzones, which I'm gonna go make dough for in a second!

(I am begging you to please ignore the layer names, these get pasted over and over across many different pages, which is why some of of them are like 'lol this is the 80th copy of this layer')

Here's what my current adjustment layers for this page (which has two different colour schemes because there's a scene transition, so twice as many layers) looks like. It's a mess! But it's much faster than any alternatives I tried early on. #makingcomics

then I give them quick masks, black them all out. From there it's just a matter of going through a page panel by panel and using the gradient tool on the colour adjustment layers to manually tweak everything.

and then duplicating those layers across every page in a scene and individually applying them as clipping masks to each of my layer groups, which contain the flat colours and shading layers, and are set beneath the line art and any highlights or effects, and then, again, to the backgrounds

that do some specific things like lighten the base colours by 20% using white to remove some saturation to compensate for any more saturated layers above that that I add in to alter the page's colours

A lot of my older pages were so bloated file and layer-wise that past me decided to flatten a bunch of stuff so that bridge would actually be able to preview the files for me, so when I realized I needed to fix all of these pages, the least time consuming course of action was to make some layers

This is still a weird one to me. 🤔

DONE FOR THE DAY! I finished everything in this scene, everything in the next, so 10 pages. Also picked out the colours for the next scene and set up the first page in the next batch. Off to make dinner~

No more weird art landmines for this batch, which is good because it means I'm done with it. Gotta create a colour treatment for the next EXTREMELY NEON scene, wish me luck!

Art landimines from 1998 so far have been mild:

- every instance of Max's beard is...not in the line art folder? It's in random places in my layers?
- why did I put the colours folders as subfolders to the lineart folders?
- why are all my shading layers ABOVE the lineart? also folderless???

Thank you! Vibrant is definitely what I'm aiming for now. I don't know why I used to subconsciously avoid too many bright colours but basically nothing is stopping me now haha (also I thought I was already following you?! Fixed now!)

I actually decided that I like it too, and it was in the final export!

Huuuhhh...so, while cleaning up this page, I found a toggled off folder with the word SNAP on it. The version that went up on our site in 2018 did not include it, but looking at it years later, I kinda like it? I like it without, too. Unsure which one I will use in the updated page... #makingcomics
