The US government had done this before plenty of times. We’ve supported and propped up right wing regimes in Latin America for decades. And after WWII we did all we could to prevent left wing governments from being elected in Europe. That was the main reason for the Marshall Plan.

It’s pretty outrageous that they would try to harm NYPD by recruiting officers from them. And it won’t work. NYPD officers aren’t going to give up secure jobs with pensions and union protection for uncertain futures with ICE.

Your argument is misleading because it omits the fact that the enhanced Obamacare subsidies were going to expire at the end of the year even if a CR had been passed. That’s why the Democrats rejected the CR. They are willing to negotiate. The GOP won’t.

The Democrats have a serious concern about the lack of ACA subsidies making health care unaffordable for millions. The Republicans won’t even negotiate. Democratic Presidents faced with similar impasses have negotiated.
