It's the unequal distribution that's the thing.

The area I'm in was high from August to October, & our team's been at ~50% capacity throughout that, which isn't very functional. With each wave, we have a small % who struggle to recover, too - have 2 who were ill in August & still not ok.

And there is a very clear rebound along much of the south coast, particularly in West Sussex, but also in Portsmouth, Dorset, and Devon.

London has looked to be behind this wave throughout, and what reporting there is indicates a sting in the tail of the wave.

I suspect outbreaks will continue piecemeal for some time across the city.

Levels are still high in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

But they have declined in Dudley, as across the Midlands, and I hope Worcs. and Gloucs. are to follow.

Barnsley and Rotherham are struggling, too.

Hull is the outlier, in black on the map, but something has gone very wonky with their reporting - I can't tell if this is indicative.

The East Riding's reporting is not good either, but it's enough to suspect a swell.

The average for Scotland is declining in most areas, as it is in England.

But that's not the case everywhere.

Teesside and Cumbria look to be having another - though smaller - rebound.

The highest rates in Scotland at the moment are in Highland and Na h-Eileanan Siar, with Angus, East Lothian and Midlothian a little lower.

The testing & reporting is solid.

Worth remembering that Scotland also has wastewater monitoring by LA.

Unlike England, this is not adjusted for non-reporting - my experience with the Scottish data tells me it won't necessary (I'll keep an eye on it).

The Scottish data is also more recent, running up to 4 days ago, i.e. last Sunday.

When you click on a Scottish local area, there is no trendline, as the data is delivered as a weekly total.

You can check the underlying data in the same way as England: by clicking on the name of the area in the pop-up bubble.

Still some very high & climbing levels in South Yorkshire: Doncaster and Barnsley particularly.

Sheffield & Rotherham still look volatile.

Further north, Bradford & North Yorkshire appear to be rebounding upwards.

It seems to be behind the curve: still bouncing up and down around 20%.

It is, yes: we've been discussing that a lot. Scotland had a bigger peak at the end of August (per wastewater, admissions, other surveillance) so... a little bit of residual short-term immunity helping there? That's my best guess, anyway.
