Poor Zort the Hireling running in circles while another apprentice tries to fashion a head-mounted reading stand...

Ah! That makes sense! I was wondering where this mental image was coming from. I thought it was a goofy horror film, but it might have been this game.
Probably even more annoying in D&D though. Imagine the party trying to feed the poor wizard a sandwich...

It's one of those mobile finish lines, but the book's structure is complete. Now it's just a matter of filling in the last few sections.
I have played The Binding of Isaac, yes. But I think IOUN stones predate it by some margin.

I've put (non-magical) luxury good lists in the Sage chapter. Inventing names for famous pieces was a lot of fun.

Because if I move Horns out of Tools and into Instruments (with Drums), I can put Figurines into Tools and still have... 19 sections. But it is progress. 😁

Hrm, I have those pencilled in for a Bard-ish section, but you're right, those are mostly generic/classless enough that I could move Drums to a new Instruments page...
It's like a sliding block puzzle made of tables. Eventually I'll find the right configuration.

It really was! That horse was basically Daniel Radcliffe in "Swiss Army Man". A raft, a passage-blocker, wolf-bait...

Heh, one of the problems is that those items condense so easily. It's really just 1 item, the Figurine of Summon Thing, with a subtable of Thing.

A favourite item from my games that's in the book is: "Horsewhistle. Summons 1 normal specific horse. If it is slain, summons 1 normal horse corpse."

Figurines is one of the top candidates, for sure.

So I have "Steampunk???" on my "Maybe" list for the Highly Specific Chapters (Meatworld, High Tech, etc). Without actually writing it, I'm not sure if it's sufficiently compelling, or if it's a "the core tables+a bit of flavour can handle this" setting. Automata might push it over the edge though...

Handled and stuck with Gems in the general treasure section. 😁

A contender for sure...🤔

Plants feel like they're a class-specific thing, oddly. As in it feels like there's one type of character where they feel in-genre, and most where they feel odd. But it's a good thought.
Orbs are Cubes that have gone to finishing school.

That's a good idea, but I think I can roll that into the Treasure Maps chapter.

Bags are under Tools; Transport is things like brooms, horseshoes, etc.
There aren't that many great rope items, but it's an option.
Ditto for waterskins/flasks. An option, but perhaps not perfect... 🤔

2/2. I’m looking for the ideal supercategory. Something that’s iconic, that has several “canonical” items in it, and that doesn’t fit in another category.

Ch.2 is Class- and Species- based, for Wizardly, Holy, Dwarven, Elven items, etc.
“Furniture” includes Mirrors, Rugs, & Cauldrons.

It wouldn't. There's no algorithmic / instant method to convert Vancian spells to GLOG spells. You have to do it manually.
