I don't believe pundits are even trying to be a reflection of reality, they're trying to move reality in the direction they want. Don't know that that was ever as obvious as it is now.

A former AWSer IT person I follow said the problem was so bad because they use the literal exact same service for internal AWS infrastructure as externally, so it is competing with resources with its own clients.
