(2/2) The military limiting freedom of speech for AD members, specifically banning "contemptuous words" against some figures, including the president, isn't new.

However, this administration seems to much more broadly define what's considered contemptuous, and seems more likely to pursue charges.

Donald Trump has a long history being on the opposite side of Native American rights.

In 1993, Trump said allowing Natives to operate casinos discriminated against him. During a congressional hearing, he questioned the heritage of gaming casino operators.

“They don't look like Indians to me.”
