A delightful few days at the #SEALS2025 conference catching up with wonderful colleagues. Highlights included moderating a dynamic session titled “The Scholarship and Impact of Dorothy Roberts,” & participating in the family law pedagogy workshop. Heading home filled with exciting ideas and seafood!

What if we practiced living in truth, where we understand family policing as nothing but a modern day plantation—reborn in bureaucracy—where the chains are legal, the overseers wear badges, and the lash is replaced with court orders?

Pro-tip for university administrators: when the government illegally cancels your grants, your first response shouldn't be "you kind of have a point."
Email from Columbia President Armstrong makes clear that admin still has no idea what it’s dealing with. No amount of “serious action to combat antisemitism” (read: punish Palestine activists) will satisfy the Nazis. They see universities as an enemy institution to crush underfoot.

Writing this piece in solidarity with Corey B Best was more than a collaborarive writing exercise, it was a deep and demonstrative dive into the practice of abolitionism, and a clarion call for naming family policing as a structural expression of anti-Blackness.
