DK 64 (and most N64 games) use non-volatile saves, so quite the opposite. You basically don't have to worry about it. And that's the vast majority of the N64 library! Although a good chunk of the bangers happen to have batteries, incidentally. I recall it being less than 20 games in total
How do you deal with saves that aren't battery backup like Donkey Kong 64? Are those just screwed?
