I think it’s a reaction to the utter denial that there was any chance Roe would actually be overturned. I had attorney colleagues still insisting the Court wouldn’t do it even AFTER the draft opinion leaked.

We just can’t take anything for granted with a Court driven so overtly by ideology.

I’ve been trying to convince my poor Midwest “melts beyond 80 degrees” wife to go to Thailand for several years, but 5 days of 75-degree dew points a couple weeks ago had my also-Midwest ass sweating like that key and peele gif. This ain’t the same body I had at 25🙃

The more I’ve thought about this, it’s hot dogs, and it’s not close. Played high school golf; we all smashed numerous hot dogs in the middle of every round.

I don’t think it’s above your pay grade at all. Individuals in many other societies are willing to consider they may find themselves in a catastrophic situation where they need the assistance of their community. Americans just tend to have more risk tolerance and/or poorer risk assessment abilities.

I know this is the loaded question, but how do we change those minds? More specifically, how do we change them within the short timeframe we often have to stop the country from doing irreversible damage? The time horizon is not infinite, and that’s been the most difficult aspect to communicate.

Short trips where you have to get out soon, it’s just part of the general suck of winter. But if I’m definitely gonna be there for an hour+, the coat’s going in the back seat.

All I’m seeing in this picture is an opportunity to fully embrace Midwestern culture by grilling in the snow.
