What a day, denn: Ich habe gewählt! In vielen Regionen und Kommunen kann man schon vor dem 23. Februar von seinem Wahlrecht Gebrauch machen. Wenn ihr also am Wahltag verhindert seid, nutzt auf jeden Fall entweder Briefwahl oder macht es wie ich und geht direkt in die Wahlämter in eurem Wahlkreis.

On 4/10/19, NASA released the first direct image of a black hole. A partial view of the Perseus molecular cloud, along with the spectacular nebula NGC1333 (center-top of the image). This image was captured with a color camera (without filters) and a 400mm F/D5.6 refractor (21h35 cumulated exposure time).

In this dense field or view, many interesting objects are visible. First of all, light-brown nebulosities are covering a large part of the picture, and hiding the stars behind : those are part of a huge cloud of dust and gas, the Perseus molecular cloud. In the center-top of the image, a spectacular nebula is glowing in white among the light-brown nebulosities : the NGC1333 nebula. Several smaller nebulae are visible in the picture.

What are these two giant arches across the sky? Perhaps the more familiar one, on the left, is the central band of our Milky Way Galaxy. This grand disk of stars and nebulas here appears to encircle much of the southern sky. Visible below the stellar arch is the rusty-orange planet Mars and the extended Andromeda galaxy. But this night had more! For a few minutes during this cold arctic night, a second giant arch appeared encircling part of the northern sky: an aurora. Auroras are much closer than stars as they are composed of glowing air high in Earth's atmosphere. Visible outside the green auroral arch is the group of stars popularly known as the Big Dipper. NGC 4725 captured from my patio on six nights earlier this year 😊🔭

I never got around to processing the data and eventually totally forgot about it 😅

It was shot on the EdgeHD 8 with a L-Pro filter for a total integration time of about 17 hours.
